On the last day of October in the chilling autumn air
when the sun was hidden well beyond the tree
And in the moon dark shadow the unbidden come alive
to ride upon death's burning silver steed

But while children beg for candy and parents beg for peace
Too tired to hear the knock upon the door
The screaming of the silent ones is nothing but the breeze
Like ashes falling on a marble floor

The candy is inspected for razors killing edge
or poison that the eye will never see
But will take  the lives of children whose day will never come
and join the souls on this all hallows eve

Your feet have felt the soft earth in the years before I came
and the sun has warmed your face and lit your hair
The sea has called your name in soft and gentle waves
The traces of your life are all still there
And I hear your presence whisper in the air

Oh, protect us for the evil that lives inside mans soul
As you ride out on that ancient sacred night
You who are remembered, remember love as well
Burn your fires for us and keep us in your light
